Educational Qualification:

  • Applicants must have passed Intermediate (I.Sc.) or possess a Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized board, institution, or university.

Age Limit (As on 01 August 2024):

  • Minimum Age: 18 years (applicable to all categories)

  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD): +10 years over the upper age limit of their respective category.
  • Bihar Government Employees (Regular): 5 years relaxation; however, only up to five attempts in BSSC exams are allowed after joining government service.
  • Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation of 3 years plus the actual service period in defense forces. The candidate’s age must not exceed 53 years at the time of application.
  • NCC Cadets (Full-time): Relaxation as per prevailing government guidelines.

Domicile Requirement / Nationality:

  • Candidates must be permanent residents of Bihar to avail reservation benefits.

The Pay Level-02 pay scale, which corresponds to the previously amended Pay Band of ₹5200-20200 with Grade Pay of ₹1900, would be used to assign the chosen applicants for the Field Assistant position. In addition to the basic pay, employees are typically entitled to allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other benefits as per Bihar Government rules applicable from time to time.

1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)

The Preliminary Exam will only be conducted if the total number of applicants exceeds 40,000.

  • Exam Type: Objective (MCQ-based)
  • Total Questions: 150
  • Duration: 2 hours and 15 minutes

    • +4 marks for each correct answer
    • -1 mark for each incorrect answer

  • Indian languages, literature, books, and authors
  • Capitals, currencies, sports, and major events

  • Indian freedom movement and Bihar’s contribution
  • Indian agriculture, resources, constitution, polity, Panchayati Raj, and development programs (Five-Year Plans)

(b) General Science & Mathematics (Up to Matriculation Level):

  • Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography
  • Number systems, decimals, fractions, arithmetic operations
  • Percentages, ratios, averages, interest, profit & loss

(c) Mental Ability & Reasoning:

  • Verbal and non-verbal reasoning
  • Analogies, similarities, differences
  • Space visualization, problem-solving, analysis
  • Visual memory, discrimination, observations
  • Relationship concepts, arithmetic reasoning, number series
  • Coding-decoding

Minimum Qualifying Marks (Prelims):
  • General (UR): 40%
  • Backward Class (BC): 36.5%
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) / Women / PwD: 32%

2. Main Examination

Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Exam—roughly five times the number of available posts—will be eligible for the Main Exam.

Shortlisted candidates from the Main Exam will be called for Document Verification. During DV, candidates must present original certificates as per their online application. These include:
