Job Role: Programming Problem Setter
The task of developing and evaluating programming problems for use in hackathons, challenges, and technical evaluations falls to HackerEarth’s Problem Setting Team. Creating interesting and difficult problems that put actual coding abilities to the test is a major responsibility of a programming problem setter.
📌 Roles and Responsibilities
- Create programming problems based on data structures, algorithms, and mathematics across all difficulty levels.
- Design real-life coding challenges for hackathons and assessments.
- Review and test problems created by other problem setters.
- Maintain HackerEarth’s question bank, ensuring accuracy and following guidelines.
- Add code stubs (partial code) to help candidates focus on logic rather than boilerplate syntax.
- Collaborate with the tech documentation team to improve clarity and remove ambiguities.
- Respond to candidate queries and issues related to coding challenges.
✅ Required Skills
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and mathematics.
- A proven track record on online coding platforms like HackerEarth, HackerRank, Codeforces, CodeChef, or SPOJ.
- Prior experience in creating or testing problems for online judges (preferred).
- A passion for coding, optimization, and problem-solving.
📍 Job Location & Duration
- Location: Bangalore (Hybrid – candidates must be based in Bangalore).
- Duration: 6 months (extendable based on performance).
